In memory of my Bijoux

Monday 29 nov 7.30

I saw Bijoux lying outside the door. He has been missing for 3 days and i was very happy and shocked at the same time to see him there on his condition. He was looking at me with his two big eyes saying help me. I picked him up carefully from the ground, he was so light and quiet. My heart just melt when i saw my poor Bijoux. I laid him down on the carpet and covered him with blanket. I gave him food and water and he drank up the water. I had to go to my lesson and i didn't know what to do. I left him there and took off. I was sitting in the bus and called up my sweetie to ask him what to do. And he's right, Bijoux is very important to us and i had to return back to Bijoux. When i returned he was lying on the other side of the carpet and I pat him. I called up Inge ( http://www.dierenartsingeboere.be/ ), Bijoux's vet and she told me to bring Bijoux in the clinic right away. I tried to pick him up to put him in his basket but he resisted and he cried out loud. Bijoux was in pain. How then can i get him inside that basket when he cried from pain whenever he moves. I tried it again but i was only doing him pain so i called up the vet to ask for Bijoux be picked up. Then after half an hour Inge's assitant came and she easily picked up Bijoux and put him in a more convenient bigger basket. Soon after Bijoux was off to the clinic.

Tuesday 30 nov 17.00

We visited Bijoux in the clinic for the first time. He didn't react when he saw us, but he attentively looked at us while we were patting his head. He was still dizzy from the pain killers he got. Inge told us that the x-ray shows that Bijoux has broken hips and his bladder was not functioning. The broken bones were not a poroblem cause it can be operated to set it back on it's form. But the bladder has to first function before they could operate on Bijoux. That was the problem. The muscles of the bladder was not working and could not feel that it's already full. Inge had to empty Bijoux's bladder everyday by squeezing and pushing on his belly. If it's not being emptied after 36 hours it can burst out. The procedure was painful for Bijoux, and surely that's not what we want for him. Toby, me and Inge all agreed that we give Bijoux a week to see if he can pee again by himself, if not, we had to put him to sleep.

Wednesday 1 dec 18.00

We visited Bijoux and he's more alert this time. He could already move his back paws and stretch it. But still, he cant pee... Inge suggested that we take Bijoux home cause he seemed to be more relaxed and happy whenever he sees us. We then agreed and set an appointment to pick up Bijoux the next day and bring him back the day after.

Friday 3 dec 16.30

We visited Bijoux and he was very happy to see us. I patted his head and he was purring loudly. He could already stand on his four legs. After half an hour cuddling with Bijoux we left and returned in the clinic 2 hours later with Noƫla to pick him up. When he arrived back home he sniffed and walked around the house. He checked his eating place and his sleeping place. He liked it very much to be back home away from that torture clinic. But still once in a while he would cry and be mad because he couldn't do the things he used to do and that frustrated him. I stayed next to him that night until i went to bed.

Saturday 4 dec 12.00

I played with Bijoux and he looked so normal that morning. But still no pee. Finally Toby and I decided that we dont want to give him 2 more days of torture in the clinic. It was a very fine day for Bijoux and he was happy at home. We put him back in the basket and took the 15mins walk to the clinic. Bijoux was very happy to be finally outside again. He has been locked up in the clinic for almost a week and at last he's outside. We could feel the cold winter wind that morning, the mist was finally gone, the sky was cloudless and he sun was shining on Bijoux. At 12 noon, our last walk with him had ended. I was standing in the waiting room and i saw Bijoux lying on the table in the other room through the small opening of the door. He was lying deeply sleeping, his belly moving from breathing. He was surely sleeping after he got his first injection. That was the last time i saw him. Toby and I left even before they gave him his second injection.

It's hard to remember how it was before we got him, it's like he's been a part of this house from the moment i got here. He was such a sweet, funny and silly cat. I remember him playing hide and seek with me, he would hide his body on the stairs but i could still see his forehead and ears! Then sometimes i would go down the stairs and he would hide behind the wall next to the door and when i open the door he would jump in front of me to surprise me. He also has his own small rule on the stairway such as no cuddle, no pass. He's just a cat you may say, but he's a cat with a personality and he's my baby. He chose me and i chose him. One-and-a-half years is very short but in our memories he'll stay forever.

To my Wife and Best Friend

The light of the setting sun slowly fades as the day ends. Or is this the beginning of a lonely evening without you? I walked through the small streets, some people mostly couples were passing by. When i looked at the lights reflecting on the water, my thoughts wander off and I think about the first time we met. It was more than 5 years ago when we met online. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was bored with playing games on the pc. I searched for chat rooms of Jehovah's witnesses and the top on the list was the chat room of witnesses.about.com. There were about 10 people online, 3 of them were you, Lani and Dave. You and Lani were speaking in a strange language and so I asked from which country you are and if you would like to chat with me. You agreed and said that you're from the Philippines. I had no idea where that is, but i thought i just look it up later in the atlas rather than asking you where it is. After a short chat we agreed to exchange e-mail addresses and ...

In my heart

June 28, 2000 I’m looking outside my window... the sky gets darker as the time for the sunset gets closer. Dark clouds pack together and drizzly rainfalls makes little water drops on the glass. I ‘sigh’ and wonder what you are doing right now. I realize that you are sleeping and I try to picture you in my mind. I see you lying in your bed, peacefully dreaming. Your little head, your eyes closed, you mouth a little open and breathing slow and deep. I wish I could step in your room and kiss you on your lips and hold you forever in my arms. To protect you from harm and take care of you as I feel obligated. You are too far away, out of my reach, yet you are closer than anyone else; you are right here in my heart. I lay down on my bed, staring at the sealing. I hug my pillow, wishing it is you, but who can I fool but my own heart. A little tear runs down my cheek and I think of how you used to wipe away that tear. Your wonderful smile, beautiful voice and you pretty face staring a...
